Field Hockey Edges Kent State, 2-1, in Overtime Thriller

In its first home match of the season, the Michigan State field hockey team (5-6, 0-1 Big Ten) droppedKent State 2-1, in overtime. Freshman midfielder Becky Stiles recorded the game-winning goal, while redshirt sophomore Elizabeth Helffrich sent the game to overtime with a second-half equalizer. Redshirt goaltender Molly Cassidy tallied three saves in MSU’s fifth victory of the season.

Strong 2nd Half Leads No. 10 PSU Over No. 13 Iowa

The University of Iowa field hockey team fell to No. 10 Penn State, 3-0, Sunday at Grant Field. The loss ends the 13th-ranked Hawkeyes’ seven game win streak. Iowa is 8-2 overall and 1-1 in Big Ten play.

No. 13 Iowa Downs MSU In Conference Opener

The University of Iowa field hockey team defeated Michigan State, 2-0, Friday at Grant Field in its conference opener. The 13th-ranked Hawkeyes move to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in Big Ten play with the victory and extend their winning streak to seven games. Iowa has outscored its opponents 34-6 during its win streak.

The Michigan State field hockey team (4-6, 0-1 Big Ten) fell to the No. 13 Iowa Hawkeyes in its conference opener, 2-0. After a scoreless first half, the Hawkeyes scored twice to capture their eighth win of the season. Redshirt goaltender Molly Cassidy tallied eight saves in the match.

No. 13 Iowa Set To Open Conference Action

The University of Iowa field hockey team, ranked 13th nationally, opens conference action this weekend when it hosts rivals Michigan State (3-5) and No. 10 Penn State (5-3) in Iowa City. The Black and Gold (7-1) entertain the Spartans Friday at 3 p.m. and the Nittany Lions Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at Grant Field. Admission is free.
