Mizoguchi Selected to Pan American Team
Illini senior Tyler Mizoguchi will join freshman C.J. Maestas and redshirt senior Paul Ruggeri in representing the United States at the 2011 Pan American Games, Oct. 24-28 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Mizoguchi was originally chosen as an alternate but will now replace injured Glen Ishino in the international event.

Maestas and redshirt senior Paul Ruggeri were among six gymnasts chosen to represent the United States at the 2011 Pan American Games, Oct. 24-29 in Guadalajara, Mexico, USA Gymnastics announced Saturday. Illini head coach Justin Spring was selected to serve as coach at the multi-sport, Olympic-sanctioned event, while senior Tyler Mizoguchi was chosen as an alternate.

Illini Athletes Named A Big Ten Distinguished Scholars
A total of 51 University of Illinois student-athletes were among those who have been named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, the conference office announced today. The award recognizes those individuals who have maintained a minimum grade-point average of 3.70 or higher during the 2010-11 academic year.
Mizoguchi Wins Gold on Parallel Bars
