Wieczorek Announces 2012 Team Captains

University of Iowa head men’s track and field coach Larry Wieczorek announced today that seniors Erik Sowinski and Troy Doris have been named team captains for the 2011-2012 season.
Eight Former Athletes Inducted into Men’s Track & Field Hall of Fame

The U-M Men’s Track & Field Hall of Fame inducted the Class of 2012, which featured Wilford Ketz (1927-29), Roderick Cox (1931-33), Mark Booth (1954-56), Dick Cephas (1959-61), Jim Stokes (1975-78), James Ross (1979-81) and Brad Barquist (1987-91).

Carruthers Strikes Silver in Daegu

IU legend Danielle Carruthers ran a lifetime best 12.47 seconds for the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships, becoming the first world championships medalist with IU ties since Rachelle Boone-Smith took second at the 2005 world meet. Carruthers outleaned fellow Team USA member Dawn Harper by less than .01 seconds.
