Praska Does It Overseas

Former University of Iowa track and field standout Bethany Praska wrapped the 2011 track and field season with a pair of strong international performances. Praska, the 2011 Big Ten Champion in the 800 meters, turned in a 2:05.01 effort in the 800 meters in The Netherlands and a personal-best 2:03.74 in Belgium.

Hawkeye Freshmen Earn National Prep Honors

A pair of incoming University of Iowa freshmen were named to the USA TODAY All-USA high school track and field team. Kayla Beattie, a native of Woodstock, Ill., and Gabe Hull, a native of Bloomington, Ind., were named to the publication’s annual list announced Thursday. Both student-athletes will join the Hawkeyes this fall.

Woody to be Inducted into MVC Hall of Fame

University of Iowa assistant track and field coach Joey Woody will be inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference’s Hall of Fame, March 2, 2012, in Saint Louis, Mo. Woody, a Northern Iowa track and field standout, is one of six former MVC student-athletes being honored in the ceremony.

Nukuri Continues to Shine

Former University of Iowa student-athlete and volunteer assistant coach Diane Nukuri placed 48th overall among more that 10,000 competitors at the New Balance Falmouth Road Race Aug. 14. Nukuri finished second among women competitors, finishing the 7.1 mile course in 37:13.

Track & Field Has 10 Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The Michigan State track & field team had 10 members receive All-Academic honors, announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Also, the women were one of 164 squads in the nation to be listed as a USTFCCCA All-Academic team in 2011.
