Buckeyes Drop 3-1 Decision at No. 15 Lewis
The seventh-ranked Ohio State (18-5 overall, 11-1 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, 1st place) men’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21) decision at 15th-ranked Lewis (17-9, 5-4) Saturday night in Neil Carey Arena. OSU’s Kevin Heine posted a team-high 15.5 points with 15 kills (.722) and one assist block. John Klanac and Jason Tobkin added 10 points each for the Buckeyes. Klanac recorded 10 kills (.273) with Tobkin adding eight kills (.125), one ace serve and two assist blocks. Flyer Jay Petty had a match-high 23 points with 22 kills (.400) and two assist blocks. Mike Adams added 14.5 points with seven kills (.150), three ace serves, a solo block and seven assist blocks for Lewis.
Penn State Sweeps George Mason, Claims EIVA Title
The 10th-ranked Penn State men’s volleyball team (20-5, 10-0) claimed its 27th EIVA/ECVL title since 1976 with a 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-21) victory against George Mason Saturday evening. The Nittany Lions have secured a bye during the EIVA Quarterfinals and will host the EIVA Semifinals and Championship on April 28 & 30 at Rec Hall.
