The Michigan State wrestling team will welcome back all former Spartan wrestlers and friends of the program for a celebration of nearly 90 years of MSU wrestling. The Spartan Wrestling Alumni and Friends Reunion will take place Homecoming weekend, Oct. 21-22.

Former Spartan Wrestlers Shine at FILA World Championship
Former Spartan wrestlers Franklin Gomez and Nick Simmons excelled at the 2011 FILA World Championship this past week in Istanbul, Turkey. Franklin Gomez, a three-time All-American and 2009 National Champion at 133 pounds, won the silver medal in the 60-kilogram freestyle division while representing his native Puerto Rico, while four-time Spartan All-American Nick Simmons tied for fifth in the 55-kilogram freestyle division wrestling for the United States.

Former Spartans Franklin Gomez and Nick Simmons To Wrestle at FILA World Championship
Former Spartan National Champion and three-time All-American Franklin Gomez and former four-time Spartan All-American Nick Simmons will compete at the 2011 FILA World Wrestling Championship Sept. 12-18 in Istanbul, Turkey, with a chance to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. In addition, MSU volunteer assistant coach Alex Dolly will also compete at the event in the 84-kilogram freestyle division.
